Bishop John P. Croneberger
Assistant Bishop of the Diocese of Bethlehem
Bishop John P. Croneberger is Assistant Bishop of the Diocese of Bethlehem. The position was authorized by Diocesan Convention 2007. Bishop Jack retired as Bishop of Newark in 2007. He had been elected Bishop Coadjutor of Newark in 1998, he was invested as Ninth Bishop of Newark in 2000. In 2005, citing the failing health of his wife, Marilyn, he notified the Diocese of Newark of his intention to call for a special convention for the election of a new bishop.
Born in Pottsville and ordained a priest for the Diocese of Bethlehem, he had been vicar of St. George’s, Olyphant (1963-66) rector of St. Mark’s, Dunmore (1964-74), and rector of St. Mary’s, Reading (1974-1980). Bishop and Mrs. Croneberger reside in the Reading area and are communicants at Christ Church.
Bishop John P. Croneberger was recently chosen to be Assistant Bishop of Bethlehem. All parishioners share in welcoming him back to Pensylvania and look forward to meeting him in Milford!
